Your trusted source for Cloud, DevOps, and SRE guidance!
Build5Nines (aka Build Five Nines) is focused on helping you be more productive with Cloud, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and related technologies. Build5Nines was launched all the way back in 2015 (formerly named BuildAzure.com) by Chris Pietschmann with an original focus Microsoft Azure, certification, and related content. Since then, the site has really grown to include so much more, including the free Build5Nines email newsletter and a broader focus on Cloud, DevOps and SRE topics.
This site has become one of the top sites on the Internet for content around the topics of Microsoft Azure, HashiCorp Terraform, and DevOps / Site Reliability Engineering!
In late 2019, the site was rebranded as Build5Nines.com as a way to show the broader focus on content that covers everything in the cloud and enterprise space; not just specifically Microsoft technologies. We cover areas including Microsoft Azure, HashiCorp, DevOps / SRE, Automation, Infrastructure Deployment, Software Development, CI/CD, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Architecture, Windows Server, Linux, Open Source, Internet of Things (IoT), and so much more!
What’s with the “5 Nines”?
Build5Nines takes inspiration after the highly sought after service availability target of 99.999% (“Five Nines“) available uptime. This level of uptime guarantees no more than 5.26 minutes of downtime per year. Many IT systems attain 99% or even 99.99% (“Four Nines“), but few are able to achieve Five Nines of availability. The primary goal of Build5Nines is to help you build IT systems that approach the elusive 99.999% (“Five Nines“) level of high availability. Follow, subscribe, and join us in the journey to “Build Five Nines“!
The “Build” in the Build5Nines name take inspiration from Chris Pietschmann’s origins as a long-time developer; before venturing into the world of Infrastructure and DevOps / SRE. After all, we can’t achieve Five Nines, if we don’t build the solution that will be able to achieve it. The word “Build” represents the merging of development and coding with the “Five Nines” infrastructure side of things for us here at Build5Nines.
Also, subscribe to the free Build5Nines Newsletter to get the latest technology news and updates in your email every week! The newsletter is a showcase of unique thought leadership content, mixed with other helpful guidance and news around Cloud, DevOps and SRE technology.
