The 70-537 Configuring and Operating a Hybrid Cloud with Microsoft Azure Stack certification exam is now available. The exam was originally announced back in November 2017, has now finally been released. Plus, the full exam objectives have now been announced as IT Pros are able to start taking the certification exam.

Exam Target Audience

The 70-537 Configuring and Operating a Hybrid Cloud with Microsoft Azure Stack certification exam is targeted towards IT Professionals (IT Pros). This exam is centered around Configuring and Deploying hybrid cloud solutions and services with Microsoft Azure Stack. Azure Stack is Microsoft’s hybrid cloud environment that enables Microsoft Azure cloud services to be hosted on-premises in a manner that enables the same skills to be reused across both public and private clouds.

Deploying and Integrating an Azure Stack Environment

  • Build test environments by using the Azure Stack Development Kit (ASDK)
    • This objective may include but is not limited to: using PowerShell commands; installing updated ASDK; troubleshooting failed installs; post-deployment registration
  • Configure DNS for datacenter integration.
    • This objective may include but is not limited to: configure external DNS name resolution from within Azure Stack; configure Azure Stack DNS names from outside Azure Stack
  • Configure connectivity for datacenter integration.
    • This objective may include but is not limited to: manage firewall ports needed at the edge; configure connectivity to the datacenter; install and renew certificates for public endpoints
  • Connect to and perform remote administration on Azure Stack.
    • This objective may include but is not limited to: connect to the stack by using PowerShell; configure client certificates; configure firewall to support remote administration; establish RBAC roles for Azure Stack fabric

Configuring PaaS and IaaS for an Azure Stack Environment

  • Configure and administer App Service resource provider.
    • This objective may include but is not limited to: configure system; configure source control; configure worker tiers; configure subscription quotas; adding App Service dedicated roles and credentials; adding custom software; configure IP SSL; configure IP block list
  • Configure and administer database resource providers.
    • This objective may include but is not limited to: configure and administer the SQL adapter; configure and administer the MySQL adapter; set up SKUs; set up additional hosting capacity
  • Configure and administer Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) services.
    • This objective may include but is not limited to: implement virtual machine (VM) images; prepare Linux and Windows images; prepare a custom image; upload an image

Providing Services to and Enabling DevOps for Azure Stack Tenants

  • Create and manage quotas, plans, and offers.
    • This objective may include but is not limited to: create quotas; configure plans; configure offers; configure delegated offers; create add-on plans
  • Manage tenants.
    • This objective may include but is not limited to: add new tenants; remove tenants; manage authentication and authorization; establish RBAC roles for tenant space
  • Manage the Azure Marketplace.
    • This objective may include but is not limited to: enable Azure Marketplace on Azure Stack; plan new packages; create and publish new packages; download Azure Marketplace items
  • Enable DevOps for tenants.
    • This objective may include but is not limited to: enable version control for tenants; manage ARM templates; deploy ARM templates; debug ARM templates

Maintaining and Monitoring an Azure Stack Environment

  • Plan and implement a backup and recovery solution.
    • This objective may include but is not limited to: back up and restore Azure Stack infrastructure; back up and restore Azure Marketplace; back up and restore storage; back up and restore tenant space, including PaaS resource data, IaaS resource data, templates, and RBAC
  • Manage and monitor capacity, performance, and updates.
    • This objective may include but is not limited to: manage storage; monitor available storage; integrate existing monitoring services; manage public IP address ranges; monitor infrastructure performance; monitor Azure Stack CPU, memory, and capacity; interpret Azure Stack logs; apply updates; install patches and upgrades; update system firmware
  • Manage usage reporting.
    • This objective may include but is not limited to: query usage database; configure access to the usage database; testing usage by using the Azure Stack Development Kit (ASDK); collecting usage data by using the Provider Usage API and Tenant Usage API; investigate usage time versus reported time

Currently, the study materials for this exam are a little light outside of the Microsoft documentation itself to study for this exam.
