Over the past couple of months, Chris and I have been working with Microsoft on a whitepaper focusing on helping customers get ready for a migration to Azure.

This paper focuses on the many different areas that are critical to the success of a project. These include everything from having a business strategy, selecting what type of support you will need to training and ultimately building your Azure subscription.

One area that is critical is selecting the type of migration strategy you will perform for each application in your environment. Often referred to as the R’s of migration: Rehost, Refactor, Rearchitect or Rebuild.

There is also guidance on when to use PaaS versus IaaS solutions in Azure. A workflow is presented to help companies consider when they would use the many different types of services and solutions in Azure.
